Yves Gérand comes from France, where he is completing his curriculum in the National Graduate School of Chemistry of Montpellier (ENSCM), France. His versatile knowledge in Chemistry and his interest in the environment (developed, among other, through a leading position in a French NGO) brought him to choose specializations Environment, Catalysis and Clean Processes (2008) and Green Chemistry (2010) . He has previously worked with the Philips Water and Air Innovation Team, Drachten, The Netherlands, on water purification and development of innovative domestic water purifiers.Yves will graduate in September 2011with a joint Master's Degree from both the ENSCM and Montpellier SupAgro (National Graduate School of Agronomy of Montpellier) in Chemistry and Bioprocesses for a Sustainable Development.
At the University of Waterloo, Yves is a Visiting Scholar in the School of Environment, Enterprise and Development (SEED). Along with Dr Steven B. Young, he will carry out research in the field of Life Cycle Assessment (LCA), contributing to the environmental impact and economic analysis with product manufacturers assessing the whole process footprint of biobased materials Ontario.
