  Research Interests
My main research interest is the use of multispectral and hyperspectral images to extract information about water quality, soil and
crop conditions and its spatial variation. I am especially interested in the use of remote sensing to detect water pollution, distinguish
between different species, determine soil fertility and moisture, monitor for plague and disease, provide analysis of growing trends,
and assist in making yield prediction.

In addition, I would like to explore a site specific approach to land management with the tools available in remote sensing and GIS
(geographic information systems). For instance, developing the use of remote sensing to define anagement zones, identify problematic
areas, detecting localized stress (by water and/or fertilizer), defining infested zones, and providing support in decision making.

Finally, I am also interested in modeling ecological processes, estimating the impact of climate change on different crop systems, and
developing methods to derive land and soil information from measurements of biophysical parameters such as the reflectance of PAR
(photosynthetically active radiation) or the chlorophyll fluorescence.
