Graduate Programs
The School of Planning offers a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Planning, and three Master’s programs. Currently none of these programs are available through distance education.

Research Based Programs:
(full-time/part-time)

Master of Arts in Planning (MA): a 2-year thesis degree; includes 5 one-term grad courses, three milestones* and a thesis.
Master of Environmental Studies in Planning (MES): a 2-year thesis degree; includes 5 one-term grad courses, three milestones*, and a thesis. This program is normally for students studying in the Physical/Natural field .Two one-term 600 level elective courses must be selected from a list of environmental courses identified by the School of Planning. All other requirements are the same as the MA degree.
Doctor of Philosophy (PhD): a four-year research degree; includes 4 one-term grad courses, two milestones** and a dissertation.

Course Work Program:
(full-time only or part-time effective September 2011)

Master of Applied Environmental Studies in Planning (MAES): a one-year course-work degree for applicants with a minimum of two years planning, or related, work experience; includes 8 one-term grad courses.

*	Teamwork Strategies in Planning Workshop (workshop held during orientation week in September, normally the week following Labour Day)
	Project Proposal Development Workshop (Satisfied in Plan 710)
	Research Proposal Plan (presentations completed in Plan 710)
**	Comprehensive Exam (completed by end of fall term in 2nd year)
	Research Plan (satisfied in PLAN 802)
