Research Interests:
Professor Feick's research focuses broadly on the application of spatial information technology to assist decision making and public participation in land management and planning. His current research centres on Web 2.0 GIS tools that facilitate citizen involvement in planning through spatially referenced forms of community dialogue, spatial decision aiding methods such as GIS-based multi-criteria analysis, and Web-based spatial data visualisation methods for assessing urban scale climate change impacts as well as adaptation and mitigation alternatives.
Research Grants/Projects:
- Strengthening the Local Climate Change Visioning Process for Community Decision-making (Deputy leader, 2009-2012)
- Funded by: Geomatics for Informed Decisions (GEOIDE)
- Promoting sustainable communities through participatory spatial decision support (Project leader, 2005-2009)
- ECOGEO: Development of an Evaluation Model of Social and Economic Impacts for Geomatics (co-investigator, 2007-2009)
- Funded by: Geomatics for Informed Decisions (GEOIDE)
- Developing interactive mechanisms for establishing community value based cultural heritage landscape conservation policies (co-investigator, 2005-2008)
- Funded by: Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada (SSHRC)
- Assessing spatial information technology for public participation in local land use planning (P.I. 2004-2007)
- Funded by: Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada (SSHRC)
- The Waterloo spatial decision support lab (2002-2006)
- Funded by: Ontario Innovation Trust, Canada Foundation for Innovation
