ELPE - English Language Proficiency Exam

To demonstrate competence in writing, all students newly admitted to the Faculty are required to write the English Language Proficiency Exam (ELPE) in December of first year. Students may demonstrate their competence in writing by achieving a passing grade on this examination (65 out of 90). The ELPE must be completed by 2B term or you will not be permitted to proceed in your degree program. If you do not pass ELPE the first time, you must have your exam reviewed with the Writing Clinic before you are permitted to re-write the exam.  It is also strongly encouraged that you enroll in one of the Strategy Sessions offered the day before the ELP exam.

WHMIS (Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System)
All students who have registered for any Faculty of Environment course with a laboratory component will need proof that they have attended a WHMIS session. An example of a course that requires WHMIS is ENVS 200, Field Ecology. Arrangements have been made for first year students to attend WHMIS. For further information visit the Health and Safety website.

Convocation
The University of Waterloo offers convocation ceremonies in the spring and in the fall. Full information regarding convocation can be found through the Registrar's Office convocation website. Have you considered a School of Planning ring?
