Graduate Students

A Note to Prospective Students: I am currently seeking a student at the Masters or PhD level to participate in a new project studying land use change in the Amazon River estuary. The student would work on the development of an agent based simulation of land use change in the study site. Students should have an interest in Land Use/Land Cover Change (LUCC), a background in GIS, and some programming experience (preferably Java). Entry to the graduate program could be as early as January 2006, although May or September 2006 are also acceptable.

In Progress

Students that I am advising...

Liu Jia - GIS applications for tourism in China.

Peter Yoon - Modelling near urban land use change using agents

Van Ngoc Truc Phuong - Applying RS and GIS to the evaluation of impacts of social and cultural agents on land use change; and initial access to the contribution of indigenous knowledge in Vietnam.

Graham Smith - An Assessment of Information Management for Watershed Planning: Case Studies of the Ontario Conservation Authority Model and Two Regions in China, Dalian and Hainan

Juno Song - Downscaling climate change data for hydrological modelling.

Julie Pocock - Spatial analysis of travel and tourist facilities
