About Geography and Environmental Management

Geography began in map-making and regional descriptions, but has been transformed by the advancement of science, the development of computers, and global environmental change. Today, geographers combine natural science, social studies, and information technologies to understand our changing world.

Geographers seek to understand places - the complex interaction of natural and human forces that define landscapes, regions, and communities - and the environmental challenges facing them.

Students who enter our program are interested in the outdoors and environmental issues. Geography gives you the opportunities to broaden your experiences, and to develop both practical skills and a deeper understanding of environmental systems and challenges.

Housed within an interdisciplinary Faculty of Environment, the Department of Geography and Environmental Management offers Geography programs at the undergraduate, Master's, and PhD levels along with programs in Geography and Aviation and Geomatics.
