Research Interests:
I have continuing research interests in gender and development issues and in local development and sustainable livelihoods in Canada and overseas. Recent graduate students under my supervision have carried out research on: community involvement in Biosphere Reserve development in Canada; development of organic shrimp farming in Vietnam; ecotourism in the Caribbean island of Dominica; the potential for Biosphere Reserve development in the Caribbean island of St. Lucia; waste management in Canada and Mexico; local food systems in Stratford, Ontario; sustainable housing in Northern Pakistan; microfinance groups in Kenya; integration of adaptation, mitigation and local development strategies in rural India.
