What the difference between: Full-time faculty, adjunct emeritus faculty, adjunct faculty, adjunct lecturers, staff?
Full-time faculty. These are the permanent, full-time professors who teach most of the classes, do most of the administrative work required of professors, and do most of the research. If you want to find out about coming here as a student and want to talk to a professor, these are the people to find.
Staff. These are the bedrock of ERS and keep the place working. Lynda, Jennifer, and Patti know all the tricks of getting the paperwork done and keep the professors from doing something stupid :) Jennifer is the person to contact if you are a graduate student. Patti is the person to talk to if you are an undergraduate student.
Adjunct emeritus faculty. These are professors who have retired. While these professors don't usually teach courses, they may supervise students in ERS and are valuable resources to our students. George Francis and Sally Lerner are generally on campus most of the year.
Adjunct faculty. These are professors who are appointed to a department other than ERS and who occasionally teach or supervise students in ERS.
Adjunct lecturers. These are great people we hire to teach a course once every three or four years. They may be academics with Ph.D.s, experienced technical staff members with advanced degrees, senior Ph.D. students, or professionals who work in government or private industry.
